Modern Belarusian society is characterized by high dynamics of social development. The social structure is being transformed, with roles and statuses reshaping as well as new social groups and institutions emerging. Changes are also noted in the professional structure: for example, there are changes in the distribution of the working population by types of activity, there emerge new forms of labor, industries, and professions in fields related to artificial intelligence, biotechnology, digitalization, etc. All this makes the study into the professional structure of society increasingly topical. Occupational prestige serves as one of the sociological metrics for the professional structure and reflects the importance of specific professions in the public consciousness. Analyzing prestige assessments given to various professions and constructing professional hierarchical scales makes it possible to track the changes within the socio-economic organization of society. The article presents the results of an empirical study of opinions expressed by young Belarussians about the prestige of professions. The youth cohort is defined by national regulatory frameworks as individuals aged 18 to 31 years. Based on quantitative and qualitative sociological analysis, the study has identified the most prestigious professions in modern Belarusian society according to the respondents. The study is novel in that it identifies how Belarusian youth perceives the prestige of various occupations in Belarusian society and constructs a scale of occupational prestige based on these insights. The applied aspect of the research is seen in the application of the obtained results in supporting the professional self-determination of graduates as well as in conducting subsequent sociological studies on the professional structure of society.
