Contemporary art as a phenomenon of post-industrial transformation, or about the prospects of PERM cultural project

Abstract

A new cultural project of social development is held in the grounds of Perm Region. This process is of some interest in terms of analysis of deep social trends in modern art. Many scientists note a new bright trend — synthesis of all kinds of art. High-tech mixture of styles, genres and trends while blotting out the borders between author and the audience, “high art” and “low art”, art and daily routine don’t shock viewer the way it was before. Virtual reality as a brainchild of XX century takes an enormous sighnificance in terms of semantics of aesthetics. The audience is not only a consumer of art but also a co-creator of the world of unwitnessed fantasy. In this case we observe unconventional communication between audience and art that is outside the framework of museum walls and our reality. Shocking and disruptiveness intentionally uncover the nature ofhuman soul and place it in public view. The audience should take up the challenge that must be suitably met. The ability to provide such an answer is an important criteria characterizing the possibility of “postindustrial transformation” in a given society. Is Russian, particularly Perm, audience able to give constructive and creative answer to challenges of modern art? Is the audience ready to become its co-author? It remains to be seen soon.
