The use of neurographica to overcome psychological alienation

Despite the fact that neurographica is a relatively young method, the ten-year history of its application has shown its effectiveness in solving a number of human psychological problems. One of the significant problems of our time is psychological alienation (from oneself, other people, and the world), which can bring a person into a state of illness associated with psychosomatic disorders, trigger the commission of deviant acts, crimes, suicide, cause various forms of dependent behavior. The purpose of the study was to explore the possibilities and limitations of the method of neurographica for achieving human integrity in the process of overcoming psychological alienation from oneself, other people, and the world. The group of the Neurographica research course consisted of 24 women (average age — 45.8 years, standard deviation — 8.3 years). The control group consisted of 23 women (average age — 46.4 years, standard deviation — 10.3 years). All women in the control and experimental groups were prone to creative activities related to self-development (they actively use art therapy practices in their lives and take personal growth courses). The following psychological methods were used to assess the level of psychological alienation: self-attitude research methodology, the loneliness scale, the short questionnaire of the Dark Triad, the locus of control scale, the anomie scale, the Metamodern test, the Pearson–Marr archetype indicator. As the results of the research, it is possible to note the following significant changes in the personality of the participants: 1) achieving a deeper awareness of oneself, inner honesty, and openness toward oneself; 2) lowering self-leadership; 3) a marked decrease in internal conflict; 4) a decrease in the tendency to manipulate other people; 5) a decrease in general egocentrism and in perception of oneself as the most significant compared to other insignificant people, a lessened desire to constantly receive positive feedback confirming the outstanding features of one’s own personality; 6) a decrease in the severity of the feeling of loneliness; 7) an increased focus on the effectiveness of one’s own activities; 8) an improved balance of the three sides in the personality — the focus on spiritual self-improvement, on achieving the effectiveness of activities performed, and on exploring the world and oneself; 9) increased responsibility for oneself and one’s own life; 10) increased overall stability in terms of the norms and values, used and declared; 11) increased desire to do something special, different from what others do; 12) maintaining the same level of understanding the world as difficult; 13) reduced desire to manage one’s environment. The results of the study can be applied in helping practices: psychological counseling, psychotherapy, group and individual training, coaching.References
