Abstract

The article considers dialogization of a lecture monologue by means of first-person and second-person pronouns. Dialogization is a set of techniques aimed at the establishment of communicative comfort for addressees in understanding an intellectually complex monologue. Generally, these techniques model a dialogic form, included into a monologue for a pragmatic aim. First-person and second-person pronouns belong to the core linguistic methods of dialogization. They provide conditional personification in conveying scientific information. The research subject are dialogization techniques typical of lecture communicative practice. These techniques are based on the use of the indicated groups of personal pronouns and divided into two groups: those distinguishing one of the communicative parties and those combining two communicative parties. Based on the context analysis, the author identifies discourse meanings of personal pronouns in an academic lecture and describes functional meanings of personal pronouns as dialogization techniques. A conclusion is drawn about genre features of these techniques; those mostly relevant to the academic lecture genre are identified.
