“IT SOUNDED SO UNLIKE INDIA”: СЛУХОВАЯ РЕЦЕПЦИЯ В РОМАНЕ Ф. Х. БЕРНЕТТ «ТАИНСТВЕННЫЙ САД»

Аннотация

Детская литература традиционно обращается к образам различных сенсорных модальностей с целью сделать опыт переживаний главных героев произведений более доступным для юного читателя. Автор статьи полагает, что звуковые образы являются неотъемлемой частью сенсорных образов произведения, а характер звуковой рецепции в литературном тексте отражает способ взаимодействия героев с окружающим миром на различных этапах их духовного пути. Являясь романом взросления, «Таинственный сад» Ф. Х. Бернетт демонстрирует особую связь звуковых образов и сюжета романа, так как рассказывает об изменениях героини и подчеркивает ее постепенно растущую потребность принимать чужую точку зрения, речь, культуру и, соответственно, слышать других людей. Безразличие героини к окружающему миру постепенно замещается искренним желанием слышать йоркширскую речь, говорить на родном языке и верить в целительную силу слова. По мере изменения характера пространственных образов текста (от Британской Индии в первых главах до замкнутого пространства сада в йоркширском поместье Мисселтуэйт Мэнор во второй части романа) внутренний рост героини становится наиболее очевидным, а выдвижение сенсорных образов, в том числе звуковых, – наиболее ярким. В звуковом отношении Ф. Х. Бернетт создает в тексте кольцевую композицию, проводя свою героиню по кругу от совершенного невосприятия звуков или их полного отсутствия в тексте – через оригинальные звуковые зарисовки и «звуковые цитаты» из классических английских произведений – до полного «заглушения» ее голоса в финале романа.
