Грани образа графа Эссекса в биографии Дж. Литтона Стрейчи «Королева Елизавета и граф Эссекс»

Статья посвящена исследованию образа Роберта Девере, графа Эссекса, в биографическом произведении Джайлса Литтона Стрейчи «Королева Елизавета и граф Эссекс». Исследован образ графа как исторической личности в контексте жанра «новой биографии». Сделан вывод о том, что Литтон Стрейчи осознанно отодвигает сухие исторические факты на второй план с целью придания повествованию «мистического» подтекста: автор выстраивает художественный образ своего героя, исходя из предположения о предопределенности его судьбы. Образ Эссекса соединяет в себе несколько граней: Эссекс как воплощение Средневековья (Эссекс-Старая Англия) и связанный с ним образ Эссекса – сказочного рыцаря; Эссекс как воплощение елизаветинства (Возрождения), с которым связан образ Эссекса как сочетания «мужского» и «женского»; Эссекс как мифологический герой (Эссекс-Актеон, действующий в паре с Елизаветой-Артемидой); Эссекс как «Сын Божий» и, наконец, Эссекс-юноша и Эссекс – живой человек – главная тема новой биографии как жанра. Актуальность исследования обусловлена интересом современного литературоведения к биографическому жанру, его истории, характерным чертам и отдельным произведениям, а также интересом к личности Литтона Стрейчи и его творчеству. Цель работы – анализ особенностей авторского видения в образе Роберта Девере. Научная новизна исследования состоит в комплексном изучении проявлений жанра новой биографии в создании образа Роберта Девере. Материалом для анализа послужила биография Джайлса Литтона Стрейчи «Королева Елизавета и граф Эссекс» (“Elizabeth and Essex: A Tragic History”, 1928). В рамках исследования применены биографический метод, элементы мифопоэтического анализа, метод герменевтического анализа, текстологический и культурно-контекстуальный методы.Библиографические ссылки
