Аннотация

Представлен обзор творчества малоизвестного в России английского писателя, художника и критика Уиндема Льюиса; проанализированы причины, в силу которых оно долгое время игнорировалось, а затем, напротив, стало привлекать усиленное внимание исследователей; освещены основные тенденции в наиболее значимых работах о Льюисе в отечественной и зарубежной научной литературе; предложены наиболее актуальные направления для дальнейших исследований. Маргинальное положение Льюиса в истории литературы, которое объясняется его стратегией «Врага» (the Enemy) всех доминирующих течений популярного и элитарного искусства и рядом компрометирующих политических заявлений, было пересмотрено в последние десятилетия в связи с расширением сферы исследований модернизма и созвучием наследия Льюиса интересам «Новых исследований модернизма». В посвященной Льюису критике внимание к позитивному содержанию, скрывающемуся за агрессивной позой писателя и его авторитарными взглядами, сменилось обновленным интересом к формальным особенностям его стиля и «постгуманистическими» интерпретациями. Наиболее перспективными представляются интермедиальный и нарратологический подходы к литературному творчеству Льюиса, а также продолжение работы по изучению его наследия в контексте европейского модернизма.
