The article is devoted to comparative study of the legacy of Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox thinkers of the period of Scholasticism. The author analyzes original texts of some prominent intellectuals concerning their attitudes towards the categories of ‘liberty’ and ‘democracy’. It is concluded that Catholic thinkers had a positive attitude to democracy and liberty meanwhile Orthodox thinkers had a negative view on these categoriesDOI: 10.17072/2218-1067-2016-1-37-54References
