The supra-utilitarian uselessness of philosophy

Abstract

A significant decrease in the status of philosophy as an academic discipline in modern conditions is a direct result of the educational reforms carried out in Russia. These reforms are based on the perestroika ideology expressed by the words "return to the bosom of world civilization." In fact, the "reforms" represent a breakdown of the education system inherited by the Russian Federation from the Soviet period of the development of our society. It is shown that the Soviet education system arose on the basis of the pre-revolutionary one as its continuation and development in new conditions. And the pre-revolutionary education system in Russia was universalist-oriented, i.e., aimed at the all-round development of the individual. The ideological origins of this attitude go back to the ideology of the Enlightenment and, further, to antiquity. Modern capitalism is struck by a deep spiritual crisis, which is manifested not only in the increase in the number of sexes beyond that established by nature, but also in the undivided dominance of consumerism. An attempt to return to such a "womb" led our country to extremely negative consequences. On the agenda is the return of the education system to the universalist paradigm and, consequently, the acquisition of a proper status for philosophy in the system of academic disciplines.
