ONCE AGAIN ABOUT MANIPULATIVE AND PERSUASIVE COMMUNICATION ("LIBERAL" MEDIA IN MODERN POLITICAL DISCOURSE)

The article discusses the problem of distinguishing between manipulative and persuasive communication. It is claimed, that many of the verbal behavior lines used in mass communication (in "adversarial" discourses), except the strategies of discreditation, are realized in both types of persuading communication, and it is necessary to take into account intentional criteria (the speaker's value orientation) for their differentiation. Some manipulative techniques of speech behavior, that are characteristic for the modern political discourse, are described.
