Abstract

The study examined the iron ion exchange parameters and the quantitative composition of peripheral blood leukocytes and red blood cells in healthy women during the first trimester of normal pregnancy. It was found that the serum ferritin concentration has a direct relationship with the serum iron concentration, but an inverse relationship with the percentage and absolute number of neutrophils and monocytes, as well as the average hemoglobin concentration in red blood cells. A positive correlation was found between serum iron levels and the total number of white blood cells. The obtained results expand our understanding of the relationship between iron ion metabolism indicators and the quantitative characteristics of peripheral blood leukocytes during physiological pregnancy.
