Abstract

Internet activism remains among the most discussed issues of a scientific nature. Global networks provide great opportunities for disseminating information. This review examines the special monograph by Ariadne Vromen, Professor of Public Administration and International Relations, “Digital Citizenship and Political Participation. The challenge from online campaigning and advocacy organisations”, dedicated to the dynamic changes and the involvement of civic organizations in the life of public organizations and movements such as GetUp!, MoveOn, Avaaz, 38 Degrees. The monograph will be useful to both theorists and practitioners. The book allows the researchers interested in political communications to expand the scientific horizon with the questions about how the Internet is transforming organized collective initiatives; what digital technologies are used to mobilize citizens; what are the main aspects and problems of grassrouting. DOI: 10.17072/2218-1067-2020-2-131-135
