Abstract

The paper is dedicated to the review of the book of the British researcher Toby James “Comparative Electoral Management: Performance, Networks and Instruments” (2019), which is the first comprehensive study of electoral management in the world science. The monograph offers an examination of the election management system at several levels, including an international one. The greatest value of this study is due to attempts to determine the boundaries of the subject area, its systematization, and the development of methodology. The author strives for the synthesis of subjectivist and objectivist traditions, offering in this capacity the so-called realist sociological approach. When considering issues of election management at a global level, the author for the first time in this field of knowledge tests the capabilities of the network approach and proposes a new concept of “electoral management governance networks”. DOI: 10.17072/2218-1067-2020-2-128-130
