Abstract

The article studies how attitudes of the major parties to immigration and their views on immigration policy affected the results of the United Kingdom general election of 2015. The Conservatives’ majority in the House of Commons became the result of a slim margin of votes and was unexpected, which entails the question about the cause of such outcome. Considering the specific features of the British political system, as well as public attitudes towards the issue of immigration, it is possible to assume that the Tory plans concerning immigration policy might have become a source of leverageDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17072/2218-1067-2015-4-52-65
