Abstract

The article briefly considers the reasons and background for the Transnistria-Moldova conflict and stages of the peacekeeping operation in Transnistria. The presence of the peacekeeping force (including Russian peacekeepers) in the conflict zone is of strategic importance for European security since it prevents a potential escalation of the conflict. The existing OSCE negotiation format «5+2» is not perfect, but it appears to be the only way to guarantee peace and stability in the regionDOI: 10.17072/2218-1067-2016-2-140-156
