The new communication platform into which the Net has transformed has a considerable influence upon political institutions and development of civic communities and their initiatives. At the beginning of the 2000s, in the scientific community there prevailed the idea of the Internet as a mechanism for achieving the democratic balance in the dual link “power-society”. However, nowadays we can see the tendency towards more critical positions. Considering the fact that problem aspects of the Net public political activism are underexplored, the author focuses exactly on the difficulties entailed by the implementation of the Internet practices in politics. The given article provides analysis of such vulnerable areas of the Internet practices as slacktivism and faking. According to the author, the Internet practices have a potential to be both a source for democratic transformations and for serious threats to the efficient interaction of the power and society DOI: 10.17072/2218-1067-2016-3-95-103References
