Abstract

In order to preserve their national identity, many countries form a set of language requirements for immigrants. From the institutional perspective, these requirements are a part of the existing national language regime. It is safe to assume that ethnic autonomies within countries could set their own requirements for regional languages alongside with the central government. This article verifies this assumption by the examples of the Kingdom of Spain, the Kingdom of Belgium, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern IrelandDOI: 10.17072/2218-1067-2016-4-116-133
