Abstract

The article presents analysis of the 2013–2015 regional and municipal election campaigns in Kalmykia, which is one of the national republics of Russia. It is not-ed that the main struggle during the elections was conducted not between the par-ties, but between the regional authorities and the competing groups. The authors conclude that the party system of the region should implement the functions of ideological and social representation and that the regional party branches should revise their strategies, update ideological programs and organize the real work with the target groups in the period between elections.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17072/2218-1067-2017-2-79-93
