Abstract

Comparative experiments on the heating (cooling) of Plexiglas samples of different shapes (plate, cube, ball, cylinder) with reference to the determination of the coefficient of thermal diffusivity of substances by the regular thermal regime were performed. The dimensionless results for all forms coincide when using the shape coefficients together with the Fourier number. Shape factor is also discussed with reference to the definition of the thermal diffusivity of fluids. The influence of convection on heat-conducting temperature fields in liquids is analyzed.
