Abstract

The article examines J. O'Barr's graphic novel The Raven, analyzes the intertextuality and its place in the artistic and figurative system of the novel. Special attention is paid to direct quoting of poetic texts, references to literary and song works, the role of music in the novel, and the image of the crow. It is shown that intertextual connections reveal the image of the main character, enhance the gloomy atmosphere of the novel, and fit it into a literary context. It is concluded that the novel largely echoes and rethinks the ideas of the Romantic era.
