МАВРЫ И ВИЗАНТИЙСКИЙ ИМПЕРАТОР ИРАКЛИЙ В «ХРОНИКЕ» ИОАННА НИКИУСКОГО: ИСТОЧНИКОВЕДЧЕСКИЙ АСПЕКТ

Данная статья посвящена достаточно редкому и слабоизвестному тексту – «Хронике» Иоанна Никиуского, коптского хрониста, жившего в Египте во второй половине VII в. и возглавлявшего епископскую кафедру в городе Никиу. «Хроника», дошедшая до нас только в эфиопском переводе, содержит многочисленные и ценные сведения о Египте в период арабских завоеваний (640–643), тем не менее автор рассматривает вопрос об источниках Иоанна Никиуского: у кого Иоанн позаимствовал свои сведения о маврах, служивших в армии византийского императора Ираклия (610–641). На примере этого сюжета автор стремится определить, какой историографической традиции Иоанн следовал при описании образа жизни и племенного устройства мавров, проживавших к западу от дельты Нила. Сопоставив сведения Иоанна Никиуского и Иоанна Антиохийского – единственного грекоязычного автора, жившего в VII в. и тоже упоминающего о маврах в армии Ираклия, – автор статьи пришел к выводу, что Иоанн Никиуский использовал сведения знаменитого византийского историка VI в. Прокопия Кесарийского, современника императора Юстиниана I (527–565). Иоанн Никиуский читал труды Прокопия, о чем он сам свидетельствует в своей «Хронике», соответственно, благодаря Прокопию Иоанн хорошо знал о племенных обычаях и административно-территориальной структуре мавров, проживавших к западу от дельты Нила. Согласно позиции автора, Прокопий повлиял на Иоанна не только в плане сюжетов (содержания), но и эмоций: как и Прокопий, Иоанн Никиуский высказывает резко негативную оценку образа жизни и поведения мавров, коптский хронист постоянно называет мавров варварами.Библиографические ссылки
