EXCURSIONS IN VYATKA MUSEUMS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY

Abstract

The active development of tourism in Kirov in recent years has made it possible to turn to the experience of pre-revolutionary excursion practices. Unfortunately, experts have not yet thoroughly studied all aspects of the regional history of tourism on the basis of the Vyatka province at the turn of the 19th — 20th centuries. At the same time, a museum cluster was formed in the provincial center before 1917, where excursions were held that had certain features. The purpose of this article was to study the excursion business in the Vyatka museums of the early 20th century on the basis of information from the periodical press, documents of the archive and literature. As a result of the study, the regional specifics of the excursion business in the Vyatka museums were studied, it was established who and how conducted the excursions, and the number of sightseers was calculated. The information presented in this article can be included in a monograph on the history of tourism in the Vyatka province in the pre-revolutionary period of time, as well as become part of a seminar course on the subject «History of Tourism», studied at the Department of Tourism and Personnel Management of the Vyatka State University.
