MASS ACTIVE TOURISM: THE EVOLUTION OF THE SECURITY PROBLEM

Abstract

At present, the frequency of accidents occurring at various objects of active tourism naturally increases. This is due to the evolution of active tourism in Russia. What has changed in domestic active tourism from the nineties of the twentieth century to the present, and what has remained unchanged? What are the prospects for improving the current situation? There is a crisis of culture in active tourism, the self-restraint that protected tourists from making dangerous decisions has been lost; the ratio of tourists in the system «organized tourism — amateur tourism» has changed, the number of unprepared visits to tourism objects has sharply increased. The quality of publicly available information about tourism objects continues to decline. The quality of services in organized active tourism remains low with an increase in its mass character. As a result of the evolution of active tourism, stereotypes have taken root in the mass consciousness of a modern tourist, negatively affecting the safety of tourist activities. The mass character of new formats of active tourism is growing — spontaneous and hidden commercial. Тhe network of tourist clubs and tourist stations has actually ceased to exist. State control of the functioning and development of active tourism is currently ineffective. What are the prospects for improving the current situation? At present, it would be effective to improve the systems of accounting, forecasting, control and education in relation to active tourism.
