GEOGRAPHY OF EXTREME TOURISM IN THE TOURIST MACRO-REGIONS OF THE WORLD

Abstract

Having originated in Europe, extreme tourism has crossed its borders and spread quite widely throughout the globe. It should be noted that different countries and regions of the world specialize in certain types of extreme tourism. At the same time, the European, American and Asia-Pacific tourist macro-regions are characterized by the development of almost all known types of extreme tourism, while for a number of reasons (the generally low level of tourism development in the macro-region, the poor material and technical base of tourism and the insufficient degree of development of tourism infrastructure, lack of appropriate natural conditions, insufficient attention on the part of the leadership of a number of countries to the development of the tourism industry, etc.) in the African and Middle Eastern macroregions, only certain types of extreme tourism have become popular. The purpose of the article is to consider the geography of extreme types of tourism by tourist macro-regions with the exception of Russia and other countries that were previously part of the Soviet Union.
