Abstract

Before the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, tourism was one of the fastest growing sectors in the Asia-Pacific region. In the context of increasing liberalization of the air transportation market, budget carriers have appeared, visa requirements have become more flexible. Of all the major sectors of the economy, tourism has been hit hardest by pandemic-related travel restrictions. The reduction in regular international passenger traffic in 2020 led to a reduction in the number of international passengers by 44-80%. The COVID-19 outbreak has affected chinese travel patterns due to the growing popularity of self-driving or small group travel as well as health tourism. This article analyzes the impact of COVID-19 on tourism and related industries in some countries.
