Abstract

The article is devoted to the potential of exercises based on modern information and
communication technologies in teaching intercultural and socio-cultural competencies. Traditional teaching
methods are not always able to influence students of the high-tech era, that is why there is a need to work with
innovative ICTs. The article discusses the advantages and types of ICT. Modern technologies make the learning
process more interactive, exciting, accessible and personalized. Among the relevant ICTs are the following:
virtual reality, artificial intelligence-based chats, multimedia and interactive platforms. The author of the article
presents a part of the tasks from the developed system of exercises for the formation of intercultural
competence, which was based on modern ICT. The main objectives of technology in the process of teaching
intercultural and socio-cultural competencies are barrier-free practice of building intercultural communication,
as well as obtaining and developing socio-cultural knowledge. In addition to the stated competencies, tasks
using ICT develop flexibility of thinking, communication skills, the ability to reflect and give a sense of
"presence", which is especially important for immersion in a foreign language culture. Technologies do not
stand still, and despite the difficulties in their integration and temporary flaws, the teacher's professionalism is
able to find various approaches to their reasonable implementation in the educational process.
