Abstract

The article analyzes the current state of the problem of perfectionism and perfectionist self-presentation in psychological science. It is noted that perfectionism is manifested in many types and forms of human activity, including communicative activity. The results of an empirical study of the relationship between perfectionist self-presentation and communicative activity are discussed. The sample of the study consisted of students - future designers and designers-specialists. We used methods "Perfectionist Self-Presentation Scale" (PSPS) by P. Hewitt (adapted by A.A. Zolotareva) and "Judgment Test" by A.I. Krupnov, for data processing we used methods of descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman correlation coefficient. The results were processed using statistical software package SPSS 17.0 for Windows. Common and unique correlations of indicators of perfectionist self-presentation and communicative activity in samples of students and designers were revealed. The common mechanism of demonstration of perfectionism and behavioral imperfection is the cognitive component of communicative activity - awareness, and behavioral imperfection is associated with the productive component of communicative activity - subjectivity, i.e. orientation in communication to their inner world and the world of the partner. Unlike designers, students have emotional and regulatory components of communicative activity that are not associated with perfectionist self-presentation. Students who are future designers have numerous connections with communicative activity with behavioral imperfectionism, while designers have multiple connections with the demonstration of perfectionism. At students ways of perfectionist self-presentation turn out to be a kind of protection from free, direct communication, at designers perfectionism is connected with style of communicative activity which is characterized by differently directed motivational tendencies, is carried out by means of orientation as on subject sphere of communication - problems, unsolved professional questions, and on subject sphere - internal world of subjects. The results of the study can be used by specialists of psychological services of higher educational institutions in individual psychological counseling. The received data can be interesting to curators of student groups, teachers and can be demanded by experts of artonomical sphere (the person - an artistic image) at the decision of problems of optimization of interpersonal interaction.
