Abstract

The article analyzes the reminiscences to the characters of W. Shakespeare's tragedies Othello and Macbeth in the novel A Dressing Room Secret by B. Show. The Irish playwright reverses the images of Iago, Desdemona and Lady Macbeth, entering into a creative polemic with the English playwright. Shaw highlights both the versatility of Shakespeare's images and expresses his own views on Shakespeare’s creative nature.
