TO THE MINERALOGY OF SLAG FROM METALLURGICAL CONVERSION OF COPPER-NICKEL ORES AT THE MONCHEGORSK SITE OF JSC KOLА MMC Potapov S.S., Goryachev A.A., Makarov D.V., Parshina N.V. s.potapov-60@yandex.ru The mineral composition of slags from metallurgical processing at the Monchegorsk site of JSC Kola MMC was studied using X-ray phase analysis, scanning electron microscopy and energydispersive spectroscopy. The silicate matrix of the slag is represented by diopside CaMgSi2O6, olivine, (Mg,Fe)(SiO4), as well as end members of the isomorphic series ‒ forsterite Mg2SiO4 and fayalite Fe2SiO4, which is typical for slags. Quartz SiO2 and cristobalite SiO2 are present in the slag in small quantities. The X-ray diffraction method revealed only pyrite FeS2 among sulfide minerals. The SEM EDS method revealed cubanite CuFe2S3, pentlandite (Fe.Ni)9S8, pyrrhotite FenSn+1, and native iron.Downloads
