Abstract

This article examines the topical but little-studied issue of creation of a literary map. In particular, thehistory of current literary mapping is analyzed, which includes the study of foreign and domestic methodological base, foreign and domestic methodology and practice. As a result, two key definitions have been clarified and justified: ‘literaryheritage’ and ‘literary heritage of the territory’. Literary heritage is parts of material and spiritual culture related to literature that were created by previous generations, have withstood the test of time, and are passed on to subsequent generations as something valuable and revered; at the same time, this phenomenon must necessarily take into account the degreeof importance of literature in the development of the territory, which should be reflected in certain parameters proposedby the authors in this article. The parameters of literary heritage, as established in this study, are as follows: objects of aspecific locus mentioned in literary works within its administrative-territorial boundaries; places of birth, life, creativework or travel of writers, toponymy associated with literature, cultural objects associated with literature according to thelist provided in the Federal Law ‘On Cultural Heritage Objects (Historical and Cultural Monuments) of the Peoples ofthe Russian Federation’; the setting of literary works in a specific region. The paper presents a step-by-step methodologyfor creating a universal literary map. Following the recommendations given in this study with regard to the creation ofliterary maps, specialists will gain new tools for the development of literary tourism in the regions. The results of futureresearch may be of practical significance for the development and tourist exploration of space, on the one hand, and thepreservation of cultural identity, on the other. Prospects for further development of the topic depend on solving a numberof problems. Thus, the applied aspect of research – creating a literary map according to the presented list of steps – playsa decisive role.
