The opportunities for participation of the broader masses in the political process, have expanded, however, little attention is paid to the study of blogs in the research literature, while the blogosphere is a space for political communication that meets the signs of scale and openness. The article identifies the practices of constructing and representing the "nineties" in the narratives of YouTube bloggers who position themselves as "left" or "right" and how criticism of the current political regime of Russia is interwoven into these representations. The work is based on the concept of collective memory, and the studied practices are understood as a grassroots historical policy. As a result of a comparative analysis of narratives about the 1990s in the discourse of the authors of the YouTube channels “Maxim Katz” and “Vestnik Buri”, the author concludes that the "left" and the "right" interpret the role of the 1990s in Russian history differently, but in general, they agree that the modern Russian political regime, its constitutional base, were formed by the Yeltsin regime. Moreover, both bloggers agree that the current power elites propagate the myth of the "dashing nineties" to achieve their goals, while disagreeing on what the goals of using this myth are.References
