The article focuses on contemporary sub-ethnic movements in the states of Eastern and Central Europe. Based on the example of the three biggest communities in the region that are traditionally considered sub-ethnic groups (Kashubians, Silesians, Ruthenians), the author shows the features and achievements of such activism. The research deals with the main organizations representing sub-ethnic movements, programs of their leaders and strategies for achieving the status of an ethnic minority. The author also analyzes the response of the states to the intensifying activities of sub-ethnic communities and political claims of their activists.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17072/2218-1067-2018-2-45-60References
