This article compares Russia's strategic narratives within BRICS in 2022–2023, a period of Russia and BRICS adaptation to new conflict-ridden geopolitical realities, and 2024–2025, a period when Russia's initiatives aimed at establishing parallel financial and economic institutions are institutionalizing within BRICS. The year 2024, which marked the beginning of Russia's BRICS presidency and culminated in the October summit in Kazan, is considered the turning point between the two periods. Presiding over the group and hosting the summit facilitated Russia's promotion of its own strategic narratives aimed at a broad audience. An analysis of Russian leadership speeches at BRICS+ revealed a shift in the emphasis of strategic narratives from the general framework of a multipolar international system to the construction of a new architecture of international relations based on close cooperation between the expanded membership of the group.
