The presented work examines the literary relations of A. K. Tolstoy with the German romantics (in particular with I.-H. Zedlitz) on the example of the ballads Kurgan and Ghost Ship. The hypothesis of typological similarities between the works of the authors is put forward and proved on the basis of the allocation of thanatological images and motifs that were comprehended and interpreted by A. K. Tolstoy both with reference to traditional Russian folklore taking into account the influence of Western European Romanticism.Downloads
