Commentary to Beowulf as Cultural Phenomenon and Literary Genre

Abstract

The paper traces the evolution of such historical phenomenon as Commentary dating back to ancient times up to our days and is based on the concept, its genesis and classification. The research lies within border of philology, literary studies, linguistics, textual criticism. The practical part deals with the commentaries to Anglo Saxon heroic epic Beowulf (XI).
