New mechanisms of copper precipitation and redeposition in copper-bearing sandstones of the Perm Region are examined. It is shown that in sandstones exposed near the village of Yug, copper was sorbed by flakes of clastogenic micas and chlorites through osmosis and precipitated as malachite due to pH changes during the hydrolytic decomposition of aluminosilicates. For the occurrence near the village of Novye Lyady, the formation of a copper-bearing weathering crust was recorded due to the dissolution of dispersed malachite by organic acids and deposition on a carbonate barrierDownloads
