Abstract

It is shown that the toponymy of the Perm region contains numerous names with the root «sol» (salt), reflecting its specific character. A historical review of the study of salt springs, beginning in 1888, is conducted, demonstrating the evaporation of salt by the ancestors of the Komi-Permyaks.
