THE CONCEPT OF "MONEY" IN THE GROUP CONSCIOUSNESS OF STUDENTS-PHILOLOGISTS

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of linguistic means of objectification of the concept "MONEY" and modeling its field structure based on the data of an associative experiment. The object of the research is the representation of the concept of MONEY in the group consciousness of young native speakers of the Russian language. The subject of the study is the content and structure of the concept under study in the modern view of students of philology. The purpose of the study is to identify and describe the linguistic means of objectification of the concept of MONEY and modeling its structure. During the experiment, associations obtained from 30 informants - students-philologists were collected. The interpretation of the obtained data consists in distributing associations into thematic groups, which represent different thematic areas of the field structure of the concept in the group consciousness of students-philologists. As a result of the cognitive analysis of the experimental data, a field model of the structure and content of the concept under study was constructed. The core of the field structure of the concept "MONEY" is represented by the feature "Economic sphere", the pre-core zone consists of 2 groups: "Name of money" and "Intangible benefits". The peripheral zones are quite extensive. The near periphery consists of 4 groups: "Negative characteristic", "Enrichment", "Method of obtaining money" and "Object of spending". The distant periphery is formed by 5 groups: "Power and influence", "Cultural associations", "Storage place", "Quantity" and the group "Rich people". The analysis of experimental data makes it possible to identify the concept-forming significant features of the concept, trace the appearance of new features and see the formation of new meanings of the concept. As a result of the research, a field model of the content and structure of the concept of MONEY was built, the specifics of the objectification of its nuclear and peripheral zones were revealed, a qualitative and quantitative description of the units of the field structure of the concept in the group consciousness of philology students was made.
