Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to study the semantic features of Chinese chengyu, their status and role in Chinese culture. Based on the analysis and study of chengyu, the paper reveals the uniqueness of chengyu as an important carrier of Chinese culture and civilization. The study uses literature review and comparative analysis methods to compare the differences between Chinese chengyu and Russian phraseological expressions in terms of structure, cultural connotation, fixedness, semantic features, functional use, interpretation and understanding, as well as lexical-semantic relations. The results of the study show that Chinese chengyu, with its unique structure and form, rich cultural connotation, stable fixation, semantic features of imagery and metaphor, widespread use in oral and written speech, and occupying an important place in Chinese culture, have become an important expression of the social values of the Chinese nation. In addition, the paper analyzes the influence of Taoism and Buddhism on Chinese chengyu, as well as the transmission and evolution of chengyu in Chinese culture and society. This study has theoretical and practical significance for understanding the deep meanings of Chinese culture and promoting the international dissemination and exchange of the Chinese language.
