Abstract

Scientific interest in the interrogative sentence is due to the undoubted significance of this object of research, the lack of elaboration of problems related to the communicative nature and grammatical structure of the interrogative sentence, as well as the need to study interrogative constructions in a historical perspective. In the history of the formation and development of the French written and literary language, the XVI century occupies a special place: it is the initial period of the formation of the French national grammar, a period of enhanced language evolution, codification of the norms of morphology and syntax, spelling, punctuation and intonation. In the descriptive grammars of the early French period, data on the interrogative sentence are very scattered, though the interrogative sentence was widely used in speech practice in the XVI century. An interrogative sentence has a special interrogative purpose that distinguishes it from other communicative types of utterance. In terms of expression, the design of the interrogative goal setting depends on the nature of the question, the specific situation and context. This article describes the most significant features of interrogative sentences of the full composition in the French written and literary language of the XVI century and identifies the main trends in their use. The article also describes some cases of interference of communicative types of utterance in an interrogative sentence, as well as some syncretic forms of interrogative sentences. The syncretism of the interrogative constructions under consideration is found in the peculiarities of the lexical and grammatical design of the sentence. The analysis of formal features, the identification of the main types of interrogative sentences and their functional features inherent in the language of the Early French period is of interest in the light of the theory of the correlation of the communicative nature of the sentence with its grammatical structure, which is currently being actively developed.
