Abstract

The history of Russian philosophy can be understood as something that is created by living, thinking, and feeling people, including in a dialogue between bearers of different worldviews. In this case, its unity cannot be something that is given once and for all. It needs to be constantly redefined, or at least clarified. The discussion of problems of Russian philosophy was perceived by those present at the round table as a way of participating in this complex and interesting work. Doctor of Philosophy, Professor, Head of the Department of the History of Russian Philosophy at Moscow State University, M.A. Maslin (Moscow) presented his report "The Unity and Diversity of Russian Philosophy". He stressed that "Russian philosophy, being an organic part of the universal history of philosophy, reflects at the same time the internal history of Russian self-consciousness expressed in philosophical ideas, movements, concepts and systems, reflecting the national and peculiar comprehension of universal philosophical problems". [1, с. 7]. One should distinguish between the objective existence of Russian philosophical thought, confirmed by sources and dating back to the 11th century, and its scientific description, which has existed for a little over 170 years. The fact is that the first book on the history of Russian philosophy was published in 1840, it belonged to the pen of Archimandrite Gavriil, professor of Kazan University. This time gap gave rise to a particular diversity of opinions about Russian philosophy, conditioned by methodological, ideological, value, and other motivations.
