Abstract

The birth rate is the most important demographic process that, along with mortality, determines reproduction of the population. Sociologists and demographers have long noticed the fact that, being essentially biologicalprocess, the birth rate in the society has a social content and is regulated by a complex of social norms. Nowadays Russia and economically developed countries are experiencing falling birth rates under the influence of many factors, leading to the consequences important to the life of society.
