The research is devoted to the problem of the interrelation of negative traits of personality Dark Triad and self-evaluated emotional intelligence. In addition, the work analyzed the role of the gender factor in individual differences in emotional intelligence and traits of the Dark Triad personality. The "Brief questionnaire of the Dark triad" and the "Questionnaire of emotional intelligence" by D. V. Lusin were used in the work. The participants of the research were 244 students (54.1% females) of Perm higher educational institutions aged from 18 to 30; average age was 20.2 (SD = 2.24). Data analysis was performed using linear correlation analysis, comparative analysis using Student's t-criterion, calculation of d-Cohen coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. As a result, it turned out that the participants in the study exhibited greater confidence in their skills in recognizing and managing emotional states. Sex differences in the expression of Dark Triad traits were found to be moderate for Machiavellianism, weak and insignificant for narcissism, and high for psychopathy and expression control. All Dark Triad traits were associated with emotional intelligence scales, with Machiavellianism having weak positive relationships, Narcissism having moderate positive relationships, and Psychopathy having moderate negative relationships. Machiavellianism and narcissism are positively related to scales of managing others' emotions, and psychopathy is negatively related to scales of understanding and managing one's own emotions. Sex differences are observed in the relationship of narcissism and psychopathy to scales of emotional intelligence. Male narcissism was associated with interpersonal emotional intelligence, and female narcissism was associated with all scales of emotional intelligence (except control of expression). Specific to women with a high level of psychopathy is the presence of difficulties with self-regulation of their own emotional states and understanding their own feelings and affects. In terms of socio-emotional effectiveness, narcissism was the "brightest" characteristic, and psychopathy was the "darkest.References
