Abstract

The article attempts to analyse the ontological foundations of pan- Americanness in Pablo Neruda’s poetry using the example of his poem Que Despierte el Leñador. The relevance of the research is due to the importance of Pablo Neruda in the world and Latin American literature. Moreover, the research is devoted to Pablo Neruda’s continental vision which has not yet been comprehensively investigated. It is concluded that Pablo Neruda harmoniously merges Latin Americanness and North Americanness, which is clearly seen through the analysis of the poem’s themes and images. Moreover, the use of free verse allows the poet to most fully convey his worldview – universal, nationally distinctive and uniquely individual.
