Abstract

The paper presents a lexicographic description of the definition of the lexeme GLOBALIZATION, which is the core of the political lexical sphere of the modern Japanese language. The research material was the data of the dictionary definition in the following dictionaries: five explanatory dictionaries, dictionary of foreign words, political dictionary, specialized dictionary (glossary of healthcare). By the method of component analysis, semantic components that make up the semantic field of the lexeme under study are identified in the dictionary definitions. This made it possible to determine the structure of this lexeme, which has a core, which includes important, mandatory semantic components of the word, naming the definition; a pre-core zone describing more detailed concepts of the multidimensional process of globalization; the periphery, which shows narrower spheres affected by globalization. The analysis showed that the semantic components isolated in the pre-core zone and in the periphery are quite close to the component in the core and are also important for the characterization of the lexeme.
