This article examines the taxi polycategory semantic complex in the German language, and alsohighlights the causal-taxis semantic subcomplex in the context of the intercategory interaction of the taxiscategory with the category of causality. Special attention should be paid to the phenomenon of taxis dualism, which manifests itself in the causal-taxis semantic subcomplex in German utterances with causal conjunctions andprepositions (weil, denn, wegen, aufgrund, aus, vor). The study's material consists of German utterances withcausal conjunctions and prepositions, obtained through targeted sampling from the Leipzig National Corpus andthe Electronic Dictionary of the German Language. The study demonstrates that causal- taxis relationships inGerman are characterized by a tight interweaving of causal and chronological connections. Moreover, taxismeanings can vary, embodying both simultaneity and heterochrony, creating additional depth and versatility in theinterpretation of utterances. The identification of taxis dualism in causal constructions demonstrates how complexand multifaceted the interaction of semantic categories can be.Downloads
