The purpose of the study is to highlight the issue of the functioning of prepositional deverbatives with temporal prepositions in Italian and Spanish in order to identify patterns in the expression of taxis relations. The object of the study is utterances with prepositional deverbatives with temporal prepositions in Italian and Spanish. The subject of the study is taxis relations (simultaneity, precedence, following), expressed by prepositional deverbatives with temporal prepositions. The study found that in Italian and Spanish, deverbatives in combination with temporal prepositions play a key role in the implementation of taxis relations. The Italian prepositions a, durante, mentre indicate simultaneity, <em>prima </em>and <em>dopo –</em> precedence or succession. In Spanish, the prepositions hasta, desde express precedence, the preposition durante – simultaneity, and <em>después</em> – succession. The analysis showed that the choice of preposition unambiguously determines the temporal orientation of the action expressed by the deverbative relative to the verbal action. Italian deverbatives with the suffixes <em>–aggio, –eggio, –izzazione, –enza, –о, –zio, –io, –ta, –zione, –sione, –ura</em> and Spanish deverbatives with the suffixes –miento, –cion, –sion, -ada in combination with temporal prepositions actualize taxis relations. The comparative analysis revealed general tendencies and specific features in the use of temporal prepositions to express taxis meanings in Italian and Spanish.Further research could be aimed at studying a wider range of temporal prepositions and their interaction with different types of deverbatives for a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of expressing taxis meanings in Romance languages, including in a comparative-contrastive light.</p> Irina V. The study traces the evolution of the study of this category, starting from the analysis of case systems in the works of Ch.&nbsp;Fillmore, R.&nbsp;Jakobson and A.&nbsp;Wierzbicka, where instrumentality was associated with the instrumental case as a marker of the instrument of action, and ending with modern approaches within the framework of functional grammar, presented by Alexander Bondarko. Particular attention is paid to the historical and theoretical context: from the formal description of case forms in Indo-European languages (e.g. the social-instrumental meaning noted by Antoine Meyer) to the study of semantic functions and functional-semantic fields (FSFs). The paper shows how the category of instrumentality, having travelled from morphological analysis to the study of meanings, has taken its place among the key linguistic categories. The analysis focuses on the categorical situation of instrumentality. It includes a subject, a purposeful action and a means, with the allocation of three phases of the activity act (regulatory, executive and effective). The FSF of instrumentality is described as a polycentric field uniting means-objects (physical instruments) and means-non-objects (abstract methods). The article emphasises the role of a language in structuring the relationship between an action and an instrument, revealing universal features (e.g., the presence of instrumental meaning in different languages) and specific features. This approach enriches the understanding of human activity by demonstrating how language reflects human interaction with the world around us through the category of instrumentality.</p> Sergei A. The work traces the evolution of the concept of emotions in philosophy – from the ancient teachings of Aristotle, who considered emotions as a manifestation of the soul, to modern phenomenological and cognitive theories of Merleau-Ponty and Nussbaum, emphasizing the cultural and bodily determinacy of emotions. Particular attention is paid to how philosophical reflection influenced the understanding of emotions not only as individual experiences, but also as socially constructed phenomena formed in the process of human interaction with the surrounding world. The linguistic part analyzes the role of emotiveness in functional grammar, where emotions are considered through a system of linguistic means, including vocabulary (emotionally colored words), morphology (diminutive suffixes), syntax (expressive constructions) and prosody (intonation, speech rate). The article examines how these elements interact with the pragmatic aspects of communication, influencing speech perception and the formation of interpersonal relationships. The relevance of the topic is especially increasing in the context of the digital age, where emotional content (emoji, stickers, intonation markers in voice messages) plays a key role in social interactions. Modern technologies not only transform the ways of expressing emotions, but also create new forms of emotional exchange, which requires rethinking traditional linguistic and philosophical models. The study demonstrates that the synthesis of philosophical and linguistic approaches deepens the understanding of emotions as a complex socio-cognitive phenomenon, opening up new perspectives for the study of communication, education and technology. Special attention is being paid today to issues related to the strengthening of traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, the formation of a unified educational space, the introduction of information technologies that complement the education system and enhance the status of teachers. The transformation of the global order has led to numerous local and global challenges. Today, particular attention is being paid to strengthening the educational sovereignty of the Russian Federation. Teachers play a key role in this process. In a time when finding stability and a sense of constancy is crucial, educators can positively influence students' psychological well-being and their success in mastering educational programs. However, to have a beneficial impact on learners, teachers must first overcome their own challenges – such as motivational crises in their professional work, negative patterns in self-reflection and self-evaluation, which undermine both teaching effectiveness and their own health and well-being. These issues can be addressed through mindfulness tools and practices. Mindfulness is an umbrella concept encompassing components such as value-sense orientations, attention, self-reflection, self-regulation, empathy, and openness to novelty. This article provides a definition of mindfulness and describes its key components. It also highlights the significance of each component in the context of foreign language education.</p> Natalya S. The study adopts anthropocentric approach and uses the phonetic method and modeling. The obtained result is the content of the course represented by 5&nbsp;thematic blocks (family, sports, education, national cuisines and favorite dishes, traveling) with pre-listening exercises (keywords, proper names, phonetic exercises), after-listening questions, grammar, vocabulary and communicative exercises. While performing the tasks, learners build the information carcass as well as lexical and grammar patterns, acquire authentic phonetic images of words that are close to the most natural speech (with both canonical and non-canonical patterns). At the after-listening stage, students form the skills of fitting the vocabulary into the appropriate context, make synonymic and antonymic links with the studied keywords, learn prepositional patterns, etc. Besides, students learn to act on the part of different people when they perform role retellings and dialogues. This makes the process of acquiring the necessary competences a personal coloring, boosts motivation and satisfaction from the obtained result.</p> Issa G. Indigenisms are lexical units that have entered Mexican Spanish from ancient indigenous languages – Maya, Nahuatl, Aztec and others. The problem of Indigenisms in the Mexican version of Spanish lies in the field of a broader problem of national identity. They not only testify to the importance of the culture of the indigenous peoples of Mexico in modern realities, but also form its national identity and cultural uniqueness of the country. In a broad sense, Indigenism is a policy direction aimed at preserving the cultural values of the indigenous population, integrating it into modern society and thereby determining nation–building. The material of the study is Mexican indigenisms functioning on country studies websites, in tourist guides, popular science publications. In general, indigenisms are more often characterized by a complex internal structure, as they are derived from word combinations in indigenous languages and they have unusual length and phonetic composition. Such types of indigenisms as toponyms, anthroponyms, animonyms, phytonyms, names of traditional artifacts and rituals are presented. Examples of indigenisms of modern Mexican Spanish in context are given, and their origin, composition, and other features are analyzed. The authors conclude that indigenisms have an extensive sphere of functioning in texts of various genres and types, ensuring the inclusion of the ethnic aspect in the linguistic identity of Mexican society.”</p> Natalia V. The material was selected from video workouts representing 3&nbsp;types of fitness training: cardio, Yoga and strength. The speakers were renown certified American instructors (two women and a man, aged 27–35). The total duration of the material was 16 minutes 30 seconds. We processed the material using auditory, classification and quantitative methods along with contextual analysis. As a result, 5&nbsp;thematic groups of lexical units were selected: 1)&nbsp;verbs describing body moves and its parts moves, 2)&nbsp;names of workouts, 3)&nbsp;body parts, 4)&nbsp;names of exercise types, 5)&nbsp;motivating vocabulary. Groups 1, 3 and 4 turned the largest. Terms were least frequent in Group 1 and most frequent in groups 2 and 4. No terms were found in group&nbsp;5. Besides terms, we identified professional and general slang, acronyms and diminutive word forms. Groups 3 and 4 displayed features specific for the three types of workouts. Units from Groups 1, 3 and 4 were present in all 3 types of workouts equally, units from group 5 were not present in Yoga workout. It can be explained by higher dynamism of cardio and strength workouts and meditative atmosphere of Yoga.</p> Elena E. Androsova, Polina E. Martial arts for East Asian countries have become a means of exporting their culture to the world, which means both increasing interest in them and improving their image. The relevance of the research is also due to the fact that the description of methods and manners of combat, types of combat practices and their history and philosophy speak about the people, their culture, and thinking no less than other more well-known realities and facts. Each type of oriental martial art has its own specifics. And, of course, with its own special language: a special vocabulary that is not always correctly reflected when translated into Russian. This is due to the fact that the process of adapting martial art in a country where it did not originate usually proceeds without any involvement of specialists in the field of linguistics and intercultural communication. However, oriental martial arts originate in a culture that is alien to Russians. The peculiarities and difficulties of translating the texts of the discourse of oriental martial arts are related to the presence of special (professional) vocabulary. This requires the translator to have a deep knowledge of not only the subject area, but also cultural nuances related to the history of the country of origin of martial arts (in particular, China), and religion, which greatly influenced the principles of the formation of the discourse of martial arts. The manifesto genre is inextricably linked with the expression of the ideas of the demonstrator and criticism of certain principles in a particular field. In the text, this is usually associated with the property of performativity. This property can be considered as a separate grammatical category. Performatives are responsible for statements that are not stating or descriptive. In addition, they exist within the strict framework of grammatical form and their semantics are strictly determined by the context of the utterance. Claude Abastado highlights performativity separately in his analysis of the genre. At the same time, he points out the possibility of words changing reality. Separately, he emphasizes the greater importance of extralinguistic factors for understanding the meaning of a phrase than strict compliance with a grammatical category. The structure of the three-level speech act was also analyzed and its effect on the "transmission" of performativity was shown. The purpose of the manifesto genre is to make the author's position very clear to the audience in order to increase the chances of a successful speech act. To analyze this feature, four manifestos from various fields and time periods were analyzed.Despite the difference in the objects of utterance, all the works use performatives to express calls for the implementation of new ideas. The conclusion is made about the use of the category of performative vocabulary not only within a strict grammatical framework, but also from the point of view of the meaning of the utterance, well-established cliches within the same genre. The emphasis of the category within the genre is on the logical continuation of criticism, which is also an integral part of the manifestos. One of its aspects is the conflict of interests of individuals and entire groups. In this article, the author explores the conflictogenic units of a literary text in terms of their semantic and pragmatic potential. Conflicting units can include words, phrases, sentences, and sometimes entire texts. Conflictogenic units are units containing insults, threats, ridicule and other components that provoke a conflict situation, causing hostility, aggression or distrust on the part of the addressee of speech. Such conflict-causing units acquire a special pragmatic significance in the context. They can express various intentions of speakers, while they have great potential and are able to display a wide range of emotions, usually negative. The author of the article explores the units of literary text at different levels. The article analyzes such contexts in which these multilevel units are associated with the expression of negative emotions. As the analysis shows, conflictogenic units reflect a variety of negative emotions. Often, conflictogenic speech does not allow one of the participants in communication – and sometimes both – to realize the main tasks of effective communication. This makes it difficult to exchange information, worsens the perception of interlocutors of each other, prevents the development of a common strategy of interaction and a constructive way out of difficult situations. The study of conflictogenic units is necessary, as it allows us to identify their range, functions and, in the future, contributes to the development of strategies and tactics of cooperative communication, which contributes to ensuring the communicative security of an individual and society as a whole.</p> Olga N. ASTAFYEV'S NOVEL «THE SAD DETECTIVE» http://press.psu.ru/index.php/ehj/article/view/10865 <p>The article examines the image of the writer-hero Leonid Soshnin, the protagonist of V. P. Astafyev's novel "The Sad Detective", published in 1986. Leonid Soshnin's movement towards his dream of becoming a writer is analyzed from different angles. The hero's self-assessment and his idea of ​​the typical path of a writer indicate his distrust of himself and his real creative abilities, which makes his image akin to the images of little people in 19th-century Russian literature. The hero's search for answers to questions that are important in the context of his chosen creative path, primarily about the mystery of the Russian soul, about good and evil, about ways to fight evil, is carried out at the beginning and end of the novel's action in different ways: from a poorly organized replenishment of reading and writing experience to the experience of contact with folk life and folk wisdom. The hero moves from replacing family and close relationships with reading and writing, from a lonely existence in a cruel and merciless world full of evil to a harmonious combination of the role of husband and father with dreams of creative self-realization. The abundance of intertextual inclusions in the novel (Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, Yesenin, Mayakovsky, Tolstoy, etc. are mentioned in varying volumes), on the one hand, provides grounds for discussing the literary hero's reading preferences and the prerequisites for the formation of his writing strategy, on the other hand, it allows us to judge the hero's complex movement towards accepting family as the main value in life and the main creative impulse.</p> Nadezda A.
